Damn you Lenny & Jeff!
May 11th, 2008You’re the ones at fault. You introduce me to it. Got me hooked. Let me see the first couple at Lenny’s house, told me how good it was, wouldn’t stop raving about it.
So I tried it. In fact, I got the first two trade paperbacks and the 2nd volume in hardcover.
Yes, I speak of Walking Dead (be forewarned of spoilers at the aforementioned wiki link) by Robert Kirkland and Charlie Adlard. I’m almost done with the 2nd hardcover already. The basic premise is: this guy has been in a coma for a while, having been shot while on duty as a cop, and wakes up to the land being over run by zombies. He struggles to find some living people and make a go at staying one a head of the zombies. The group has to contend with zombies, finding food, the cold, finding a shelter that is safe, etc. And we only know what they know about what happened: nothing.
It is like Resident Evil 3, but without the super hot model running around saving the day, and only people are zombies, nothing else. People die. People do things that they wouldn’t normally have done. It is the tale of their survial in the zombie world.
Reading things like this gets me thinking about how to survive a zombie “invasion” (so to speak). But that is a post for another day. Lets just say that Walking Dead is pretty excellent. I’ll be getting the third hardcover next time I’m at the local comic store.
