Alta Società
November 28th, 2010The publisher, Black Velvet, has published the Italian translation of High Society. Their hardcover version has a dust jacket, and retails for 30 Euro. As you can see by the video below, it has a copy of the map of Estarcion by Michael Loubert in Italian, the first few pages of Free Cerebus that bring the reader up to date with High Society, and a short introduction:
I did get a freebie copy of this translation of High Society because my photo of Dave Sim was used on the dust jacket (I got a credit too, w00t!). While I do like Pontent Mon’s hard cover, I have to say I like the dust jacket. Take off the dust jacket, and there is a different cover on the actual book. All three translations have the first few pages of Free Cerebus – but only the Black Velvet version has the map of Estarcion in the language that High Society was translated into and it is also much larger.
The spine of all four translations together:
The original version is on the bottom, next up is Ponent Mon’s Spanish edition, then Black Velvet’s Italian edition and at the top is Vertige Graphic’s French edition. From what I hear there is talk of Church & State I being translated also for release in April 2011.
