Those letters that you got from Dave Sim in the 1990s – some of them might have been the same form letter I got from him when you wrote in to Cerebus’ Aardvark Comment – but some of them might be of more substance then those, it looks like Dave wasn’t keeping copies of all the letters he sent out at that time period. Steve Peters of Awakening Comics was talking with Dave on the phone and this is what Steve said:

I told him there were some letters from him I had that, although theywere very interesting historically, I didn’t use them, partly because they didn’t fit with the story I was telling, partly due to space considerations. He asked me if I could send him copies of them, because he has very spotty records of his own letters fromthe ’90′s. Which leads me to Dave’s request:

If you have any letters from Dave from the ’90′s, he’d appreciate it if you could send him a copy. If you have a huge stack of 50 letters, there’s no need to send them all at once, it’s not an urgentthing. I assume it’s just that he wants them for the archive.

This is the main period that I wrote in to Aardvark Comment and had something like 5 letters published in Cerebus. The form letters came later, in the mid to late 1990s, though now I’m going to have to dig out all those old letters and make copies for Dave. Perhaps I’ll even post them here, that could be fun. . .
