This time it isn’t promo art for glamourpuss #2 by Dave Sim, but an add for “Zombie Culture Awareness Month” at Aardvark-Vanaheim, Inc. Issue #4 will size a variant cover: “Zombie Variant Cover” written in zombie.
I just finished reading the book War World Z and the Zombie Survival Guide (both by Max Brooks), so this light hearted take on zombies should be fun. I kinda wish he’d do an entire zombie issue, and not just the cover!
just got back from a 120+ mile round trip to RI and back. Saw Wanted (meh) & had sushi (yum!). Riding the bike on I95? It was fun! tired now
So I got my motorcycle back from the Honda dealership today. At first I was grumpy ’cause I didn’t get a call yesterday with what was going on with her. I hadn’t gotten one today either so I called them ’bout 2:30 pm. The guy who answered the phone said the parts came in and she was next on the mechanic’s list.
Next? What the frak? Why wasn’t he working on her now? Gah! The guy said the bike should be ready to pick up tonight and they’d give me a call when she was ready. So I turn on my phone, something I very rarely do, and wait for the call.
And waited.
And waited.
Finally ’bout 6:30 pm I get a call that the bike is ready, they’re finishing up the paperwork and I can come down and pick her up. So I beat feet down there to get her. They did all the 16K mile service from the manual and then some, replacing lots of expendables like oil filter, air filter, spark plugs, etc. And they also replaced both front and rear chain sprockets along with the chain itself. Lots of work, and a pretty decent size bill.
They had me on my way in no time, and I noticed that the odometer had been reset from when I brought it in. I only use the odometer to tell me when I need to fill her up with gas. So I looked in the gas tank and it was full. That was pretty nice.
I got on the bike and pulled up to the street, I pull the front brake: no more squeaking! I zipped out the parking lot and was shifting up: no more squeaking from the clutch lever, and the shifting felt better, smoother. Coming to a red light I tapped on the back brake and exclaimed Holey Shit! The back brake had been tweaked as well, feeling tighter and more responsive. I couldn’t turn left into my apartment complex: I had to keep riding. So I kept going for another 40 miles. I opened her up on a small portion of my trip which was highway, and she gave me no lip as I pulled back on throttle, all she did was growl and speed along. In fact, just going around the back roads, the exhaust sounded like it was growling.
The spa time did her right. Even though the mechanics didn’t give me updates and they didn’t save the sprockets and chain to show me how bad they were, the job appears to be done excellently and bike is running in tip top shape. I’ll be riding her down to RI tomorrow, a nice 50 some mile ride, so that should be fun!
w00t! got the motorcycle back just in time for the weekend. took her out for a 40 mile spin, her spa time did her right, she feels great.
So Dave Sim’s (yeah, the same Dave of Cerebus fame) glamourpuss #2 is coming out in July. He has released some preview art to the internets:
and another piece of art:
If you want to see higher resolution verison of the pictures, make with the clicky on them. If you’ve missed the pass couple of pictures, I’ve got a “set” for glamourpuss pictures.
The drill team was excellent as was the band.
exhausted. Just got back from the Cape. I saw the Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon: http://tinyurl.com/6yvadv
It can’t be only Tuesday?!? It feels like Friday.
Actually, it feels like how I felt after a huge ChemE test: totally drained of all knowledge, ran over with a steam roller, and then left out in the sun for waaaaay too long. And that is why it feels like Friday: the turmoil I’ve experience feels like an entire week’s turmoil squeezed down to the size of a softball and aimed at my nose.
One of my machines is down at work: line down situation which I’m trying to fix. Another customer had issues with our response to their corrective action response. And my bike went in for the spa treatment and needed a liver transplant. Just all kinds of “fun” stuff popping up. To top it off, if we have to work this weekend, guess whose week it is to come in and supervisor engineering?
Yeah, this girl.
::sigh::
Hopefully by Sunday I’ll be sleeping in and then going for a ride on my newly tuned up motorcycle.
I miss my motorcycle. . .
